Spring Membership Meeting, March 5-6, 2019

AIRROC's Spring Membership Meeting is a two-day event which includes one day for business meetings (March 5) and a day of education (March 6).  

There is no registration fee for AIRROC members and AIRROC Corporate Partners.  Others pay only $349.   CLE will be provided.  


The March 6 Education Agenda will feature the following current topics:

Exploring the Evolving Role of FinTech and InsurTech on Runoff Issues
In this session the presenters will explore the ever-increasing significance of technology in the runoff space in light of how technology is impacting the business of insurance and the financial sectors. 

On-Demand, Usage-based, and Micro Insurance
New InsurTech product innovations such as on-demand insurance, usage-based insurance, and micro insurance rely on emerging technologies to provide limited, use-specific insurance for certain types of risk.   This session will address the broader implications of such products, including partnerships with traditional insurers to underwrite risks, and what insurers can learn from InsurTechs as they develop their own innovations and digital initiatives.

Insurance and Reinsurance Caselaw – An Update on Recent Notable Rulings
The panelists will provide commentary and updates on recent court actions with a focus on both direct insurance and reinsurance issues.

NAIC Initiative Update
There are many initiatives underway at the NAIC that could have an impact on many insurers in the coming year. This presentation will provide a brief update on these topics.

Insuring Cannabis
A discussion of the growing cannabis industry and some of the issues/gaps in current coverage for cannabis businesses. A look at how the California Insurance Commissioner has addressed regulating the cannabis insurance industry, and highlight the potential role insurance regulators can play as the cannabis industry continues to grow and as insurance companies attempt to insure the risks associated with it.

Oil & Gas Transport Environmental Risks for Pipelines, Motor, Railways, Port Operations, & Marine
This session will reveal facts and figures of worldwide Oil and Gas Transport Environmental Risks, along with specific claim examples.  Also discussed will be different types of insurance policies that may respond to such losses, typical coverage issues, and lessons learned.

Do the Right Thing: Avoiding Ethical Conflicts in Environmental Contamination Matters
Attorneys, consultants, corporate leaders, and insurance executives who deal with matters relating to environmental contamination are constantly confronted by a Gordian knot of potential ethical conflicts. Our panelists will survey these difficult issues and provide a useful framework for doing the right thing.
